MLTF and CCA host End of Year CLE on Military Law Topics — Webcast December 29th, 1-3 pm CST, On demand download after the fact
The Center for Conscience in Action and the Military Law Task Force of the National Lawyers Guild are proud to invite attorneys to attend a FREE and LIVE webcast session, conveniently scheduled for end-of-year procrastinators for Friday, Dec. 29th from 1-3 pm CST.
This workshop is what we hope will be an annual tradition of providing CLE content on human rights topics at the end of the year, with this year focusing on military law issues.

This year’s presentations will be:
1st hour – Compare & Contrast: The Military vs. Civilian systems of criminal justice
2nd hour – Defenses, Mitigation, Extenuation and Aggravation as it relates to absence offenses under the UCMJ

Presenter: James M. Branum, a civilian attorney with more than 11 years of experience in representing US military service members before courts-martial and administrative boards. He has served as Texoma Regional-Vice President and as chair of the Military Law Task Force of the National Lawyers Guild, and is currently the Executive/Legal Director of the Oklahoma City-based Center for Conscience in Action.

CLE Credit: An application requesting MCLE credit for this activity is pending for approval by the State Bar of Oklahoma, and we are working to arrange for this CLE to be co-sponsored by a presumptively approved CLE provider in California. For lawyers in other states, we will provide a uniform application for accreditation of CLE credit which you can submit to your state’s bar.
Course Materials: Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the e-book US Army AWOL: A Formbook and practice guide, a e-book copy of the Manual for Courts-Martial, and other learning materials.
Format: This presentation will be available in two forms, a live webcast (in which participants will watch the presentation via live video, with the chance to send questions via email to the presenter) and in on-demand video format, which will allow participants to watch on their own.
