This 2-hour live webinar will be conducted via Zoom (registrants will receive a registration link via email) but will also be recorded for later viewing.

In this seminar, attendees will:

  1. Learn about both International and US law as it relates to the issue of illegal orders in a military context,
  2. Learn about the dangers (legal, moral, ethical and practical) that US servicemembers may face if they obey illegal orders,
  3. Learn about the dangers (legal, moral, ethical and practical) that US servicemembers may face if they disobey illegal orders,
  4. Learn about the ethical issues that may face attorneys and GI Rights Counselors when we discuss the issue of illegal orders.
  5. Learn what the public should know about the issue of illegal orders.

This webinar is open to all, including attorneys, GI RIghts Counselors, law students, military servicemembers (active, reserve and Guard), military veterans, and of course members of the public.

About the presenter: James M. Branum is a solo-practice attorney based out of Oklahoma who practices primarily in defending military servicemembers in courts-martial, administrative boards, and related matters.  He is a past MLTF co-chair and is the author of two legal books.

In his legal activism work over the years, James has worked with many different organizations including the GI RIghts Network, Civilian Medical Resource Network. Center on Conscience and War, Courage to Resist, and About Face Veterans Against War.

James also serves as an Interfaith Minister and Jewish educator.
