The MLTF is launching a year-long series of monthly trainings that will serve as an introduction to military law.
All instruction will be conducted live via Zoom, but also will be available as recorded presentations for later viewing.
The first training, entitled An Anti-Imperialist Approach to Military Law will take place on Wednesday, June 15. Click that link for details and to register. It will be available as a video a few days after the live event.
The series will have two tracks:
CLE track: 1-3 hours of CLE sessions provided each month, designed to get inexperienced lawyers equipped with the basic skills to do their first military law cases, but also to serve as a refresher course for experienced military defense lawyers. Law Students and experienced GI Rights Counselors and Legal Workers may also find this track appropriate.
Activist track – Monthly workshops for non-lawyer progressive activists who are organizing in military communities or want to learn how to do so.
The cost to register is:
Cost: $50 per session for attorneys seeking CLE credit. (scholarships are available for MLTF members willing to take at least one pro-bono referral from the MLTF in the coming year)
Activist Track: No costs, but donations are appreciated.
This program is made possible through the funding of the NLG Foundation and our co-sponsors, including Courage to Resist, Center on Conscience and War, and the Oklahoma Objector Community.
