The Department of Defense has issued new Conscientious Objection regulations. DoD Directive 1300.6, which has not been changed in over 30 years, is now cancelled.

The NEW controlling Department of Defense regulation regarding Conscientious Objection is DoD Instruction 1300.06, dated May 5, 2007.
